VMware – Technology
Virtualization allows launching many independently working systems on a single, physical device. One server can accommodate different operational systems such as Windows, Linux, OS X, and other at the very same time. These are totally independently working environments, and each virtual machine can have separate disc resources, separate cards, network addresses or even entirely separate configurations of machines. Virtualization has such a wide range of usage that it enables to create full computer infrastructures: servers, firewalls, desktops; starting from a single device to end up with well build-up virtual environments. Virtualization on the x86/x64 platform – two possibilities

VMware - Benefits, advantages, priceVmware solutions allow to reduce the costs connected with the purchase and exploitation costs of new devices. Flexibility of the backup of machines and files, possibility of constant creating and recreating of the machines give a wide spectrum of possibilities to create, change and expand the IT infrastructure. At the same time, it saves time and reduces the costs. Benefits: - Optimizing resources utilization
- Integrating different systems on a single device
- Reducing exploitation costs (one physical device instead of many)
- Hardware failure immunity (files act as a virtual machine)
- Being independent of hardware
- Integrated backup on the level of files and images
- Virtual network traffic unburdens the physical network
VMware - Requirements, risk, limitationsVMware is a group of virtualizing products that vary in terms of their usage and requirements. The choice of an optimal solution should be preceded by an analysis of needs and capabilities. VMware used with a host is independent of a device, however, that solution cannot offer all possibilities and benefits that can be given by installing the solution directly on a device. It is designed for single or a small number of virtual machines. Using advanced virtualization solutions based directly on a device is connected with certain hardware requirements. Considering the benefits resulting from using this type of virtualization, the requirements should not be treated as a problem, but rather as an investment in a quality of the infrastructure. VMware – Possibilities VMware as a group of products offers many possibilities of virtualization on a small and large scale. Virtualizing even one device can ease an IT specialist’s life, while virtualizing an entire environment can save a lot of his time. Owing to the possibilities of backup on the level of files and images, we can fully protect the virtual environment. Vmware virtualization solutions are characterized with large flexibility due to ease of creating, removing and recreating virtual machines. Using Vmware offers: - Fully functional IT infrastructure
- Many decentralized infrastructures centrally managed
- Hierarchical and grouped environment
- Production environment
- Test environment
- Laboratory environment
VMware ensures: - Hardware failure immunity
By using High Availability (HA) cluster we gain immunity against hardware failure of one or even many servers. When one of the servers stops to respond or has been isolated, after 15 seconds devices that were installed on that server are launched on the remaining servers of the cluster. Thanks to that, despite the hardware failure, the work of an environment is uninterrupted.
VMotion technology allows to migrate virtual machines between ESX servers without cease, what ensures an uninterrupted work of the migrated machines. This technology is extremely important when comparing resources utilization or hardware maintenance. When there is a need for servicing an element of hardware, we can migrate all created machines to other servers without stoppage. It can be done manually or setting the server into a “Maintenance mode", which results in automatic migration of virtual devices. The machines can be divided into those that can work on one server, and those that should never be placed together on one server. It is an extremely useful and vital possibility in case there are some virtual machines (VM) that due to some important reasons cannot work on the same physical server.
Distributed Resource Scheduler (DRS) cluster allows to even the utilization of resources of each server by migrating on-the-spot the machines between servers in one cluster depending on the work burden and according to the declared rules. Single machines, as well as groups, can be assigned to specific groups of varied resource access priorities called "Resource pool". The higher priority a VM or VM group achieves, the more often it will win the fight for resources with other machines. Groups can be granted permanent or changeable limits, that will be able to expand resources utilization depending on resources availability.
- Group and hierarchical structure
All machines can be grouped and assigned to specific groups depending on the organizational structure they belong to. For each group or machine we can assign a user or administrator (e.g. a CRM application administrator, an installer), who will be able to perform certain actions within assigned functions for specific groups.
Why it is worth to choose VMware- A growing number of x86/x64 servers
- With constantly appearing new IT solutions and server applications the number of servers is growing
- The needs are growing
- You need additional servers
- Your budget does not allow to purchase any new servers
- The power and capabilities of your Intel x86 servers are not fully used
- Managing the infrastructure requires increasing the agility of the IT department
- You have delays in implementing another IT projects/ services
- It is difficult to find satisfactory resources for new, upcoming projects
Traditional architecture: - Each server works with its own operational system
- „One server – one application” model
- Low utilization of hardware resources -> many physical servers

Virtualization: - A single server can work with many virtual machines (1 CPU ~ around 6 virtual servers)
- High utilization of resources
- Reduction of the number of physical servers e.g. 10:1
- Virtual machine independent of the type of hardware (producer)
- 4-processored virtual machines

One physical machine – many operational systems
- Servers are not optimally used
- Severs utilization usually does not exceed 25% of resources
- Usually one application on one server
- Changing a purpose of the server is expensive and difficult

Instead of that there is one optimally used server:
Virtual machine properties:
Services, implementation processWe offer comprehensive services in terms of: - consulting on technology choice
- sales and delivery of purchased technologies
- installation and configuration
- technical support
Implementation Process: Owing to flexibility of the system, the implementation process looks differently for each client and it depends on individual requirements. There are, however, elements that occur every time, such as: - analysis of the client’s needs, including audit of the existing infrastructure and environment
- project of the solution
- installation, configuration and tests
- launching the system in your company
- training employees
- enhancements and system service
